Welcome on the HandsSee website: a site with a lot of information about tactile images:

• how to learn to work with them
• how to design them
• how to explain them

I devoted many years to developing ways to use tactile images (with a 'touch guide') to explain concepts and give access to what can be seen, but not be touched, to blind and partially sighted people - young and old. On this website I share my know-how and experience.

I also want to stimulate the use and availability of good tactile images.
Not only in schools, but also in museums, publications and places of interest.

In short they are:

1. Tactile images (of 3D-subjects) must be:

   • quickly and faultlessly readable
   • understandable
   • a pleasure to use

2. It is very important to train all involved.

   • tactile readers, designers, explainers must all speak the same language

3. Tactile images always need explanation

English part of the website

This English part of the website is for international exchange. On the last Tactile Reading Congress in Amsterdam 2025, several experts agreed we should join forces, knowledge and experience to realize more good and easily available tactile images and books (in any technique).
